 Honey and Islam:

“Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, reported: A person came to Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) and told him that his brother's bowels were loose. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (May peace be upon him) said: Give him honey. So he gave him that and then came and said: I gave him honey but it has only made his bowels looser. He said this three times; and then he came the fourth time, and he (the Holy Prophet) said: Give him honey. He said: I did give him, but it has only made his bowels looser, whereupon Allah's Messenger (May peace be upon him) said: Allah has spoken the truth and your brother's bowels are in the wrong. So he made him drink (honey) and he was recovered " [Bukhari & Muslim] 1 2

One should drink honey even when he is healthy, as this is a Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is confirmed by the following hadeeth:
" Anas, (may Allah be pleased with him), reported: I served drink to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) in this cup of mine: Honey, Nabidh, Water and Milk " [Bukhari & Muslim]

Battle of Badr

mpacuk.org
Life in Makkah was becoming unbearable for the Muslims due to the growing oppression and tortures of the Kuffar(disbelievers). The Prophet (S A W) and his companions secretly planned to escape from the macca due to the oppression and tortures of Kuffa, those who intended to kill the Prophet and his companions  in their own homeland and thus bring an end to the religion of Islam. But the almighty Allah, the Exalted, aided His Messenger (S.A.W) by giving order to immigrate to al-Medina. The immigration of prophet (S.W.A) was becoming a very painful event for Kuffar and they wanted a chance to destroy the Muslim emigrant. And they got the chance after the second year of migration(hijrat) of prophet (S.A.W). The trade caravans of the Kuffar passing near Median, now faced serious danger. The Kuffar had already knowledge about the love and devotion of the Sahabah for Allah and his Messenger ( S.A.W). So they plan to fought with Muslims and drove them out of Madina, and make the route safer. For last 10 years, while in Makkah, the Muslims were prohibited to openly fight the Kuffar because the Kuffar were greater in number and the Muslims were very few. But after immigration to Madina sahabah got a safer place of their own and become confident. Meanwhile Allah revealed verses of the Qur’an giving permission to the Muslims to fight the disbelievers.

"Permission to fight is given to those (i.e. believers against those disbelievers), who are fighting them, (and) because they (disbelievers) have been wronged, and surely Allah is Able to give them (believers) victory." [(22): 39)]

The Battle of Badr took place on Saturday, March 13, 624 AD (17 Ramadan, 2 AH in the Islamic calendar) in the Hejaz region of western Arabia. Abu jahel, Utba ibn Rabi'ah, Umayyah ibn Khalaf, Hind al-Hunnud was the key leaders of Kuffar. The battle began when Utbah Ibn Rabi-ah, his son Al Walid and his brother Sheibah (all from the Ommayad) stood in front of the Kuffar army and asked the Prophet (S.A.W.) to send them their equals for a dual fight. Hundreds of companions were around him and many of them were expecting to be called upon by the Prophet (S.A.W.),but he choose to start from his own family. He called upon Ali, Al Hamza and Obeidah Al Harith to face the three warriors. Ali destroyed Al Walid and Al Hamza killed Utbah; then they both assisted Obeidah against his opponent Sheibah. Sheibah died immediately and Obeidah was the first martyr at this battle. He died after he lost his leg.

The kuffar army had 900 Infantry & Cavalry with100 Horses and 170 Camels .On the other hand the Muslim army was not more than 313-317 men, including 82-86 Muhajir (the Emigrants from Makkah) and the others were the Ansaar. They had only two horses and 70 camels to ride. Most of them did not even possess simple weapons to fight; some had swords but no bows and arrows, while others possessed spears but no swords. The army was not well equipped, nor well prepared for war. But they fight for Allah, so Allah help them by sending Angle as for help, Allah says:

"(Remember) when you sought help of your Lord and He answered you saying, 'I will help you with a thousand Angels each behind the other in succession." [ (8): 9]

The signs of victory of the Muslims began to appear soon after the battle began. The enemies were stricken with terror and began to flee. The Muslims, who were fighting with the help of their faith, and knew that both killing and being killed were blessings of Allah (SWT), were perfectly undaunted and nothing stopped their advance. Single combats and collective attacks continued till midday and the battle came to an end after noontide, when disbelievers fled and some of them were captured. The martyrs of Badr were buried in a corner of the battlefield. Their graves still exist and devoted Muslims visit them to offer their respects. In this battle fourteen men from amongst the Muslims were killed. As regards seventy disbelievers were killed and seventy others were captured.
